THE SPRING LEAGUE


League Play


•I. The league will begin on the first week in April and championship play will be the last week in May. Each team will play seven (7) regular season games. Every teams makes the playoff for a guarantee of 8 games minimum.




•II.               Periods of play:


Boys & Girls Division:

(4) 7 MINUTE QUARTERS (8U - 11U Boys)

(4) 8 MINUTE QUARTERS (13U - 16U Boys)

RUNNNING  STOP CLOCK (CLOCK STOPS ON TIME OUTS AND FOULS SHOTS) 

1 and 1 at 7 team fouls

bonus (2 shot) at 10 team fouls


Time out: two (2) full (60 sec.) and two (2) 30-second time per game


Overtime: 1st - will be a three (2) minutes, 2nd -  two (1) minutes, 3rd - first point made. Each time will receive one (1) full time out. Time not used in regulation play will  be carried over to overtime play. 



•    Forfeiting:


There will be a five (5) minute grace period for the first game of the day only.  Every team after the first game of the day should be ready to play at the posted game time. There is no make-up games unless the gym has been closed due to no fault of THE LEAGUE.



•IV.  The League will follow AAU age rules. There will be no Protest allowed involving a judgment call by a game official. Coaches can request a time out for rule clarification.


Eligibility / Team Roster


  • I. Team roster should have at least seven (7) and no more the fifteen (15) players. Age divisions based on AAU age rules.

  • II. Grade Exceptions: maximum of three (3) per team.

  • III. Players on final roster must play in at least (2) regular season games to be eligible to play in the playoffs.

  • IV. A player shall play for only one league team. However, a player can "play up" on a team from the same organization. Playing up means the player is playing in an age division that is older then his or her current age classification.

  • V. Team roster and birth certificates must be presented at all playoff games. If a team plays in its first game and later decides to withdraw from the league, the team will forfeit the registration fee.

  • VI. Protests involving a player's eligibility must be registered to the official scorer table and with the game Ref prior to playing the game in question. There is a $30.00 protest fee that must be turn in with a writin protest (with fact)  to the League Commissioner within 24 hours after the game.

  • VII. Players and Coaches ejected from a game for unsportsmanlike conduct or flagrant violation of the rules will be automatically suspended for one (1). A player receiving a second ejection within the season will be suspended for three (3) games including playoff games. If a coach feels he or she was unjustly ejected, he or she must submit a written communication explaining the suspension.

  • VIII. Any schedule adjustment/change request after the season schedule is post must be in writing 1 week before the game in question to the league.There will be no changes to the playoff schedules unless change is due to circumstances beyond THE LEAGUE control such as bad weather or gym change as deemed by staff of the various facilities. Equipment


  • I. The game will be Played with regulation size basketball (29.5 for 13U and 14U), (28.5 for boys 8U - 12U and Girls).

  • II. The Home Team is listed second on the schedule. The Home Team wears White/Light uniforms for the games. Teams must wear a Basketball jersey at the least.
  • III. All players must be completely equipped in the same type and color of jersey at the minimum. In case of similarity between two teams playing a game, as determined by the game official, the Home Team shall be responsible for changing jersey colors. Reversible jerseys are preferred.

Authority and Responsibility:


•I.  Club and team officials shall be responsible for conduct of their team and fans. This includes being respectful of the opposing players, coach and game officials. Coaches will be responsible for keeping their respective bench area clean and clear of individual not on the teams official roster.


•II.  League Commissioner or his or her authorized representative or the Game official shall make the decision to postpone any game. If no game official is present when play is schedule to begin, the coaches must contact THE LEAGUE Commissioner.


•III.  Rule Committee may review or changes such rules or regulations, as It deems necessary, and decide on the interpretation and application of any rule or regulation, during the league season. New rules and interpretations shall be subject to approval during the league season.

Game Code Of Conduct

 

  • I hereby pledge to provide support, care and encouragement for my child participating in Potomac Valley basketball sporting events and by following this game Code Of Conduct:

  • I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches and officials at every game.


  • I will place the emotional and physical well being of my child ahead of my personal desire to win.

  • I will insist that my child play and practice in a safe and health environment.


  • I will support coaches and officials working with my child, in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.

  • I will demand a sports environment for my child that is Free From Drugs, Alcohol and Profanity and will refrain from their use at PV Basketball events.


  • I will remember that the game is for youth - not adults.

  • I will do my very best to make youth sports fun for my child.


  • I will ask my child to treat other players, coaches, fan and officials with respect regardless of race, sex, creed or ability.

  • I will not use noisemakers or any other form of loud noise to distract a player on the floor.


  • I will reframe from arguing with other fans, officials or coaches while in attendance Potomac Valley basketball sport events.

If you are able to or not willing to abide by this "Game Code Of Conduct", while attending a Potomac Valley Basketball events ... You will be asked to leave our premises.
